Gold Leaf in progress
One day I received a commission to Gold Leaf a Mortimer pipe organ.
The owner had seen my work and asked if I would be interested. I have never done gold leaf before and he said he would teach me if I would take on the task.
The Pipe organ was tremendous, 25ft x 15ft.
Each piece had to be delivered to me to work on.
The largest pieces I had to go to my client's home to work on in person. He had purchased a home in a "fly in" community. Most people had an airplane that they would fly into their own home. He had roughly 15 large pipe organs he collected showcased in this room.
It was a painstaking process. It was a large task and I admit I was a little overwhelmed. But I completed it. I used traditional Chinese Gold Leaf methods for the entire piece and the insert paintings according to the owner's request. Since then I've Incorporated a lot of gold leaf into my paintings and commissioned murals. I feel strongly that gold leaf raises the vibration for the viewer and the room it's in.
Let me know what you think.
